PARCHMENT, MI — The Parchment Panthers opened their season in spectacular fashion Monday night, rolling past crosstown rivals Comstock with a dominant 8-0 victory. Fueled by offensive firepower and a rock-solid defensive performance, the Panthers delivered a statement win to start their 2025 campaign. Senior forward Micah S. led the charge with an explosive four-goal performance, setting the tone early and never letting up. Not to be outdone, Luke G. added a hat trick of his own, showcasing his speed and skill on the attack. Cam W. rounded out the scoring with a well-placed strike to notch his first goal of the season. On the other end of the pitch, it was a night to remember for freshman goalkeeper Liam N., who recorded his first career shutout in his varsity debut. The young keeper held his composure and anchored a Parchment defense that gave Comstock few opportunities to threaten. The win also marks a milestone for Coach Getty, who earned his first varsity victory as head coach of the Panthers’ boys program. "This was a total team effort,” said Coach Getty. “I'm incredibly proud of how the boys played tonight—Micah and Luke were lights out up top, and Liam really stepped up in goal. It’s a great way to start the season.” The Panthers look to carry this momentum into their next matchup on Wednesday against Saugatuck. The middle school team kicks off at 4:30 p.m., followed by varsity action at 6:00 p.m. on home turf. With a strong start under their belt, the Panthers are hungry for more as they continue their march through the 2025 season.
