The Parchment varsity volleyball team came up just short in a five-set thriller against Watervliet on Thursday night, dropping the match 3-2 with set scores of 18-25, 25-23, 25-21, 17-25, and 12-15. After a slow start in the first set, the Panthers bounced back with energy and determination, narrowly taking the second set 25-23 and riding that momentum to win the third set 25-21. Parchment showed strong communication and resilience, especially at the net and from the service line. However, Watervliet regained control in the fourth set, evening the match with a 25-17 win and carrying that momentum into the decisive fifth set. Despite a strong push from Parchment, the Panthers ultimately fell just short, 15-12, in the final frame. It was a tough loss for a team that showed heart and competitiveness throughout the match. The Panthers will look to regroup and build on the positives as the season continues.
